goRoam for Bulk Delivery and Pickup

goRoam has mobile and server configurations specific to bulk pickup and delivery.  Typical customers include:

  • Fuels
  • Lubes
  • Chemicals
  • HazMat Pickup (Hazardous Materials)

goRoam can be installed and run as a stand-alone system for order entry, scheduling, dispatch and mobile delivery, but is most often installed with integration to back office systems for order entry and billing.  Examples of bulk product back office systems include SAP, ADP, Profit21, Solomon and Great Plains.

In cases where customers already have order entry and dispatch systems, goRoam can be used for Customer Service Reps to view, print and email PDF’s of deliveries with the customer’s electronic signature.

goRoam.MobileHub is web-based and can be run over the internet via our hosted offering or installed on-site.

Key modules for bulk pickup and delivery include:

>>  Load Entry >>  Loads
>>  Forecasting >>  Orders
>>  Scheduling and Dispatch >>  Tank Readings
>>  Dashboard >>  Metered Deliveries
>>  Route Optimization >>  Barcode Scanning
>>  Signature Capture
>>  Mobile Receipt Printing

goRoam supports full order entry. Users can ‘Quick Enter’ an order and automatically create the corresponding load, or create and edit just the order.  The Bulk Order module includes tracking:

  • Associated BOL’s (Bill of Lading)
  • Ship and Bill To addresses
  • Electronic Signatures
  • File attachments – including pictures from the mobile and site plans to show how to enter or exit a customer location
  • Printing to PDF
  • Tank readings per line item delivered

goRoam provides full load entry and tracking. Dispatchers can schedule loads by terminal and supplier, and track what was picked up by the driver from the mobile application. Dispatchers can schedule straight deliveries or split loads.  Loads can be tracked by hauling rates and have standard delivery mileage and times set to make it easier to analyze performance.

Our scheduling and dispatch module displays trips with scheduled loads and deliveries by driver. The Gantt chart is color coded and can be set on a per dispatcher basis to show what is scheduled, delivered and late.  Dispatching is as easy as dragging and dropping loads and orders onto a trip (route). Once assigned to a trip, loads and orders are wirelessly dispatched to drivers and as they are completed, the dispatch board is updated in near real-time.

goRoam has full asset tracking, including the ability to define specific attributes of vehicles and tanks.  When customer’s tanks are loaded in the system, goRoam takes electronic feeds from tank monitoring or from customer inventory systems and generates forecasted inventory levels. Dispatchers can put customers into their dispatch group and then determine when to place orders based on forecasted inventory levels.

Forecasting is set at the day level as well as intra-day, so bulk dispatchers know exactly when a truck has to arrive to keep a customer from going dry.

goRoam.MobileHub has a standard dashboard for fleet managers to quickly assess metrics. Standard metrics for bulk include:

  • Fleet Utilization – vehicles in fleet vs vehicles used
  • Bulk Gallons per Day – scheduled vs.delivered
  • Delivery Exceptions – orders that were not delivered
  • Bulk Stops per Day – scheduled vs. actual stops per day, including averages

goRoam.MobileHub has integration with leading Optimization Engines. The engine used depends on the type of deliveries made – such as compartmented versus packaged, scheduling horizon, dynamic scheduling, etc. Optimization is based on genetic algorithms and can take into account delivery windows, forecasted bulk needs, traffic and drive time, and least cost depot/terminal sourcing.

When drivers start their day, they can key or barcode scan their driver number. They also key or scan their truck to get their route (trip) for the day.  Drivers can complete an optional vehicle inspection on the mobile device to start and end their day.

Drivers record the load ticket details on the mobile. This is wirelessly sent to the goRoam server so dispatchers have real-time visibility into the quantity loaded. Drivers record terminal, vendor and product details. Additionally, customer key codes can be sent to the driver for terminal access.

The core of the delivery app is a highly configurable order module. Drivers have access to the customer information, any attached files such as site maps, as well as forms to record the delivered quantity (net and/or gross) and tank readings. Bulk and packaged delivery can be mixed on the same order, with bulk items requiring tank readings for each item.  Drivers collect the customer signature and can print or email a receipt directly from the mobile device.

LCR-II meterFor Fleet Fueling customers, goRoam is wirelessly integrated with Liquid Controls LCR II meters. Drivers can set the quantity to deliver on the handheld and start/stop the register directly from the device. The quantity recorded on the register is automatically captured in the handheld for true electronic delivery.

Metered deliveries are barcode enabled and allow drivers to scan the tank/vehicle barcode, select the product and compartment, then fully record all meter readings electronically.

You can print a receipt using a mobile printer such as the Zebra RW420. And, the receipt is based on an HTML template so you can edit the receipt and receipt logic to your company specific requirements.

image The metered delivery module uses wifi from the handheld to the truck. WiFi connects using a wireless serial port and connects into the meter network on RS-485, which enables us to control all meters on the truck network.  Whether you have 1, 2, 4 or more, you can enumerate and control them all in real-time from the handheld.  Additionally, coverage is great and works at the end of the hose real (300+ feet away) as well as in warehouses, etc.

Installation of the meter components is very straightforward.  We use standard, off-the shelf hardware components so you can manage and maintain them on your own.

While goRoam provides paperless Proof of Delivery, drivers can print receipts on demand directly from the mobile device for customers that require receipts. Receipts are based on HTML templates that are easily edited by your customers for custom formatting, including your logo, disclaimers, etc.  We support over 30 printer manufacturers and can print on 4” printers such as the Zebra RW420 or 8.5” printers such as the O’Neil VMP2000.

goRoam supports all Windows Mobile devices. Bulk deliveries are most often done using rugged devices such as Motorola MC75, MC909x or Intermec CN3’s.  These devices have drop specs and IP ratings – meaning the device can be dropped on concrete multiple times, get wet, be hosed off, etc. and still function. Additionally, they all have built in barcode scanners.

goRoam supports barcode scanning in all places supporting data lookup – product codes, ID badges, truck/asset tags, etc.

goRoam also supports electronic signature capture. Customers sign the screen of the device and we compress and store the signature in a binary format for efficient wireless transfer. goRoam has standard reports with signatures included, or you can write your own against our database.
